 As per usual the threatening storm clouds seemed to skirt around this little spot in Shropshire as 12 intrepid golfers set out to tame the vagaries of Hill Valley Emerald Course. The banter was free flowing before the start as the usual outrageous handicap claims were forthcoming. Fortunately they all fell on deaf ears.

This year we were all able to have buggies to get around in quicker times - or so we thought - as we hit the turn after 3 hours , it was beginning to look as though we would be late for our meal. Fortunately the back 9 took considerably less time.

Again the players were divided into two divisions with those of handicap 19 and under being seeded as division 1 and the rest as division 2. Players were paired into teams of 2 using an extremely technical draw method.

Most people seemed to have improved their scores from last year, especially Paul Brabin who doubled his score from last year. The course was in excellent condition with the greens being exceptional,  although there are definitely way too many trees, they just seem to get in the way all the time !!

The overall winner was Alan Grundy with 35 points , Division 1 winner was our special guest golfer Mike Dean with 32 points, Division 2 was won by Jim who, although having the same score (28 points) as Dave Unsworth, had a better back 9 score. Unsy pipped again !! - maybe next year Dave.

Nearest the pin and longest drive were both recorded by Pete Laithwaite.

The team prize went to Pete Laithwaite and Jim Waring.

Finally, the usual note of tremendous thanks to Paul Brabin for organizing another great day. Here's to next year.
